You can give your bedroom furniture a real boost when you choose to give it the shabby chic paint treatment. You’ve probably changed the paintwork or the wallpaper in the bedrooms more than once or twice, yet the furniture remains the same.

And whilst the soft furnishings have also changed over time…the main furniture still looks much like it always did…1980s or 1990s pine furniture perhaps?

But you can change it. You can select the shabby chic treatment for all types of bedroom furniture made from all woods. Here at Shabby Chic Surrey we have experience of painting all wood types from all eras: Victorian, Edwardian, G-Plan and more contemporary.

Yes, most of the work is pine furniture. But dark, old furniture from yesteryear also benefits from a new look. Several coats of primer and undercoat are the match for most woods. Where we do come across a particularly dark tropical hardwood we will use a shellac paint to mask the wood stain. That’s not common fortunately.

We Can Shabby Chic Paint All Types of Bedroom Furniture

The clear wax treatment is often a favourite for bedroom furniture, but most paints and dark wax shabby chic treatments are possible.

Bedroom colour schemes are easy with either the Farrow and Ball or the Annie Sloan paint range. Both ranges have good stocks of water-based eggshell and matt chalk paints. Whites, creams and off-whites tend to dominate in many schemes, but feature colours are always possible.

We do like to tot up our top paints for shabby chic every year. The results are never seriously in doubt with Farrow and Ball “Pointing” topping the bill most years. But one or two feature colours do consistently make up the top 10.
