A much-loved chest of drawers is always a good place to start when you consider restoring your old furniture. Because a new life for old furniture is definitely on the cards as you start the furniture restoration job. Typically they have a standard construction, and are more usually built with pine. But, increasingly, we do work with oak.

A New Life for Old Furniture
This example of a chest of drawers was no different. In its raw state, a relatively standard pine chest of drawers with some detailing to the bottom and of course quite large. We will glue and clamp any loose boards or detailing, but this chest of drawers was very intact.
And of course, it was very much appreciated in its old home. Except it was pine brown and redecorating was planned!
And the brief for us? A complete re-style in white, pure white. A Dulux diamond eggshell pure white
Giving a New Life for Old Furniture
But also we were asked to paint the drawer knobs and we did so using one of the Farrow and Ball blue colours.
So we have the blue contrasting with the white. All in a very effective furniture transformation. Most chests of drawers will live in the bedroom, but others will pop up elsewhere. In this instance, the bathroom.
In the same household, we also did a transformation on another chest of drawers. But for that one, we painted pink drawer knobs. Again, a new life for old pine furniture.
