Only last week we noted how many bedside tables we are fortunate enough to restore with paint. And so, what better way to mark that talking point than with some timeless painted bedside tables. Is there anything remarkable about the humble bedside table? Yes, because they really do come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. It's true that the classics involve a drawer and locker space or a cupboard space with or without a drawer. And the most popular classics are probably of pine construction. However, we do see a lot of small tables in oak and beech, and many have more than the requisite single drawer.
Timeless Painted Bedside Table
This particular pair of bedside tables was of standard pine construction with rounded feet and three equally-sized drawers. Certainly recognised in bedrooms throughout the country, w were asked to paint them with a Dulux diamond eggshell
We followed our usual process of sanding the pieces of furniture, de-dusting, priming and then undercoating. Finally we applied several coats of the Dulux diamond eggshell in Timeless. We didn't replace the handles but simply painted them the same colour as the body of the bedside table.
The result was very pleasing and the two painted bedside tables look fully at home in their new bedside environment.
Timeless Painted Bedside Tables
This three drawer pine unit with turned feet is a fairly typical piece and we do see a lot of them.
We removed the varnish by machine sanding and then hand sanded the moulded edges, drawer fronts and handles.
