This pavilion gray painted cupboard is certainly a feature of its new home on the South Coast. Originally bare wood, the brief was simple. Paint the tall and bulky cupboard in Pavilion Gray and make it fit for its new kitchen home after the house move. Such a brief is standard fare for making a furniture transformation or makeover. Sometimes the colour choice is rapid and at other times it takes some coaxing…

Pavilion Gray Painted Cupboard at Home
We started the painting project in our standard way with a collection from a property ten miles away before taking it back to the workshop outside Bisley.
Before sanding, we removed all the hinges and metal handles. We always do this unless we physically can not remove the old screws. In which case we tape them up.
With everything removed, we taped up the glass on the door front ready for painting.
We used a Zinsser BIN primer on this job, but we also use a Dulux primer on others. The Pavilion Gray colour was mixed for us by the Dulux Decorators Centre in Guildford, with the Farrow and Ball colour equivalent. The cupboard took two or three coats of eggshell finish paint. That's about normal and reflects the quality of the primer.

Bare no More
Once the paint was dry we re-assembled the cupboard, checked that the door opened correctly and removed all the masking tape. Another good job.
